The ransomware attackers want to be paid in Cryptocurrency to keep their anonymity.

The Cryptocurrency exchange houses are under the spotlight.

The US government has announced sanctions against SUEX, a Cryptocurrency exchange that is registered in the Czech Republic (but does not have a physical presence there and) operates from Moscow.

SUEX has helped launder about $60 million worth of Bitcoin transactions for cybercriminals.

As the number of ransomware victims increases, the governments are slowly tightening the measures on the hackers. However, hackers will always find new ways to make money. It is wise for us to continue to improve our security posture.
